Man and the Universe

Man and the Universe is an investigation of how man has visualized his relation to the universe around him since his appearance on this earth. It deals comprehensively with man’s search for his roots and the true raison d’etre for his existence. Prof. R R Pandey has provided us with an all inclusive survey of the invaluable material initially found in the Rigveda and later refined by the various schools of thought that have developed ovet the ages. Prof. Pandey gives us an overview of different schools of philosophy and takes us to the absolute extremes of Indian philosophical thought from Shankara to Ramanujan who present conflicting conclusions about the all-embracing reality and methods for attaining it. Also incorporated in his survey are many modern Western conceptions of reality, including the present ‘Black Hole’ theory and its relation to ancient Indian thoughts.
