Karunamaya, the God of comparsion is the deity Lokeswara, who is known as Bungadyo among the newar community. This God is respected by all sect and castes(Hindu and Buddhist), With the farmer class regarding him the god of grain.
Because of the colour of the idol he is also popularly caled Rato(Red) MAtsyendranatha. His Month-long chariot festival is the longest one in Nepal,and intriguing, with many tales to tell.
